There's been 3 burglars shot and killed by homeowners here in the past week or so. They passed the Castle Doctrine which gives the homeowner the right to do so. Now to me, they just saved the cost of a trial, jail time and the costly appeals to come.

You betcha!

I'll go out in a gun fight when they come to try and take my guns.

The gov is already to big to even try a revolution. You'd have to have massive amounts of people in secrecy on the same page. That and you'd have to have some of the military involved. Any speculation and the big dogs will come and take you away. Prolly stash you down in Guntanamo. And after some of the things I've seen and heard from Obama, he might even send his police after you just for thinking about it.

A revolt should have happened many moons ago. Fock fixing the world, lets fix America first!

I could only hope some of the military would feel the same way and fight on the side of the people.

im definitely with you on that: i wont give my guns up either. like i hinted at, i find their ideas about the economy interesting in some respects but almost hate the idea of them in office, though i sense it is enevitable.

Joe Biden co wrote the 1994 'assault rifle ban' (which included AR sales, high capacity round clips, etc). He and Obama are against these guns. They say they are 'for hunting and outdoor sportmans activities' and that 'you dont need an Ar15 or AK 47 to kill a deer.' i can almost garranty you one of the first executive orders signed is going to be the reinstatement of that law.

so if you want any semi-auto gun (there has been proposed legislation against any and all semi auto weapons), you have now until Jan 20, 2009 to get them.... an increase in gun sales is def going to happen until then. i know im going to be getting another.

i see it already being in the stores, especially around here. right before the hurricanes hit, the #1 selling item was ammo and guns at sporting goods stores!

if you never lived around hurricane systems, you are lucky. people go nuts. they try and steal generators, gas, anything b/c they didnt prepare and everything is a shotage and absolute pandemoneuim. image suddenly, about 250,000 extra people in your town overnight and overcrowding everything at once like a swarm of chaos. but that is another story. a gun is a good deterrant, and in some cases an indespinsible protector of your life.

I don't really consider 250k per year rich. I would say that if you manage your money well then you are living comfortably. I live in a fairly high tax area, but my overall cost of living is still pretty reasonable. Heck the government considers my locality to be "rest of the US" meaning that it's part of the lowest cost of living area. Anyhow, my wife and I both have very good jobs and right now make about $140k per year combined. In 3 years when we are both at our top pay levels (still get step increases, but top pay grade) we'll be closing in on the $190k to $200k area. I don't think that we are rich by any stretch, but like I said we are able to live comfortably. We were both pretty stupid with credit cards when we were younger and are reaping those rewards now. Partly because of pre existing debt and our desire to not be house poor, we bought a very modest home that we can easily afford. We just paid off one vehicle and are going to drive that baby into the ground. We still will be making payments on my truck for 4 more years (it's 3 years old). I figure that once we have our vehicles paid off, we will have most of our debt settled up and can fully appreciate our salaries. Even then though, it's not like we'll be able to live in a 5,000 square foot palace and both drive new BMW's to work every day, at least not if we would like to be able to save enough for a comfortable retirement at a reasonable age.

What scares the heck out of me though is that if Obama does get elected, we won't be able to reap the rewards of our hard work as it will just be a matter of time before we too will be considered rich. I work hard at my job as does my wife. We both worked very hard to obtain our jobs. I think we shouldn't be made to trade our benefits derived from hard work to some welfare recipient who just doesn't want to work and is satisfied in just getting by at the taxpayer's expense. I was a local police officer before I became a fed and have been n many a project and can't remember the last one that I saw that had a TV less than 32" big accompanied by the latest video game system.I don't think that's fair. I think that one should be able to benefit from their hard work and success and shouldn't be compelled to help someone that doesn't want to work. Oh well, it sounds like I'm preaching to the choir here, but it still makes me feel good to get these thoughts off my chest, talking to some like minded individuals.

Here, an individual making 100k would probably be in the top 1%. I don't know if I would call that rich, but way way better off than average.

There are a whole lot of people working food service, retail, gas station type jobs here, and I don't think we have had any presidential candidate who has a clue what it would be like trying to live on $8/hr with no medical or retirement.

I guess I have more sympathy for those folks (working full time and poor) than I do for the folks who have chosen not to work at all. Many of those folks have been moved off welfare, but from what I've seen they then get on SSI Disability.

Default Is $250k a year rich?

My daughter was getting SSI. She has a very rare genetic disorder that effects 60% of her body. She is mentally and physically delayed. We spent the first 2 months of her life at childrens hospital in boston, that is where we found out she is missing part of her brain. She would beat herself up so bad that she would have black and blues and scratches on her face. It was so bad that all of her doctors wrote letters for us to hand out explaining our daughter hurts herself because of her dissorder and that we do not beat her. SOOOOO. My wife got a 15 cent at her part time job. We went down to the SSI office to inform them. While we were waiting I overheard the guy in front of us talking to the SSI rep. He was atleast 350 lbs+. This guy said he was a drunk and because he drank so much he got fat and could not work. He was not covered by welfare any more so SSI gave him $3000 retro active and 1500 per month........... When it was our turn to see the SSI rep. they denied our daughter the 500 per month she was getting because my wife got a 15 cent raise. Needless to say I had to be escorted out of the SSI office. So I bust my ***** to take care of my wife and 2 girls, pay the mortage, truck payments etc. and the state and feds. take my ( our ) money away from us and give it to some drunk to eat chips and watch Opra all day long. Sorry for the rant. BTW Iam not rich....
