The shame is, Bush will never, or at least not for sometime, get credit for the things he did for our country. I know one thing, we haven't been attacked since 9-11.
Scrambler, I sure hope that 2 acres is enough to keep your riding fixes in check. Heck, you might get told what to do with YOUR 2 acres one of these days.[img][/img]</end quote></div>
Were actually waiting for our area to be developed. We live on a cornor that for a gas station is just the perfect spot.Since we live on 2 acres my dad hopes 7 eleven or marathon comes along and offers him 2 or 3 million to move out to develop our land.

<div class="FTQUOTE"><begin quote>Sadly there are 2 things that made this a Obama victory....the Republicans who let us down over the last few years, and all the liberal college brainwashed youth that voted....I am glad they did vote, but I really think few knew or cared what or who they were voting for. </end quote></div> I agree with this wholedheartedly. When Newt Gingrich and the Republican majority laid out the Contract With America there was alot of good common sense laws passed. Not the whole package but some good legislation like welfare reform and other decent things. That kind of take charge mentality is gone from the Republican Party (It's been gone from the Democratic Party since after JFK in my mind). They had majorities in the House and Senate with a Republican President and they did very little. Whenever they called me for donations I always asked about the issues that concerned me and what they had done about it. Mostly, other than a tax break, the Republicans under Bush did very little. I'm more independent that Republican. I vote for the person(s) who most closely match my convictions and have voted for conservative Democrats in the past. That's why I am frustrated with what happened. If you look at President Elect Obama's voting record and associations with questionable people you see a completely different individual than what was portrayed by him and the media. I always scratch my head when a gun owner votes for a liberal from the party that has eaten away at our Constitutional rights or a quad owner that votes for a liberal from the party that is in bed with the far left environmentalists that are actively closing public lands (that we pay for with our tax dollars) to motorized vehicles. Another example is union workers who vote for Democrats who resist many of the programs that would lead to more work for the unions like drilling in ANWAR. I don't even have to go into the moral issues of our time. I just believe that the average American had no idea who Obama is/was and didn't care enough to look beyond his rhetoric and the medias bias.

I don't see how you can think the folks that make >250,000 are going to get taxed only slightly more! Obamas plan says that 95% of taxpayers will get a tax cut. That means that only 5% will pay higher taxs. How are the 5% going to be able to make up that difference in only SLIGHTLY higher taxes? The only way I can think of is that they will have to lay off (FIRE) many many people! And that in turn means that there will be that many more people standing in line wanting their handout! Sounds like a downhill slide to me!

I see but, the way I understand that (and other things I've read) is that his plan is to tax the more wealthy (>250K)(This includes large corporations where currently get all kinds of tax breaks) so less fortunate (<250K) can get the tax breaks. E.G. "Bottom Up".
McCain and Republicans in general say. Take care of the business and wealth and they'll take care of the workers. Which has not worked in the last 8 years.
But, still Communism???? That is not communism my friends.</end quote></div>
So what do you call taking money from the people who earned it and giving it to people who want it? Socialism... Maybe?</end quote></div>
thats not socialism thats communism. socialism is where the government has ALOT of control over your money. doesnt necessarily ''spread the wealth'' but regulates the hell out of it. also remember guys in the 1800s when the world was in hell and civil wars were in every country socialism saved the worlds economy.

Here's my 02. cents on the topic, yes I know I'm bringing back an old topic...
Currently I'm nearly 16, and here's an example on a course of action I may take with my life.
I have been working and saving money since I was 14. I work at a restaurant as a bus boy right now. I get by in school easily with very little effort and still sit in the low 90's range. I plan to finish school in this grade area, and try to go to college. I am not stereotyped on this topic, as my mother voted Obama, and my father, Mccain. If I go out and use my money that I've been working for to try and start a business, and get taxed harder to pay scrubs who either leech disability or work at McDonald's with no drive to succeed, I think I'll be very upset. The problem I see with the whole idealism Obama is using is that what drives a CAPITALIST economy and nation is the DESIRE TO WORK AND SUCCEED. Let's say I change my outlook, and shift to a different idealism. I see Obama take office, and I know that if I don't go to college and if I slack off, and perhaps be a bus boy forever, I will basically be just as well off as if I got up and tryed to start my own business. This is an idea that makes people want to do nothing. I see how short term it will aid our problems, but, long term, the amount of money the government is receiving will weaken, because less money is coming in and people are expecting to make more while not earning much.
Back to my other idea, if my business begins to succeed, and I eventually grow it up, and begin making, say, $200,000 (what a dream, right?) a year, and get taxed because of my success and my hard work just so people who are trying to steal from the system, I will be furious, as would anyone in the situation.
I know many of my ideas are incomplete here, and hopefully people can sort it out, but just put it into perspective, how Obama's ideas take DRIVE out of the American people, and DRIVE is what keeps this nation afloat, and supports all the ideas. Just consider what I said, and if something I said was inaccurate, whatever, I think the basic idea still stands. Socialist ideas are a short-term solution, but will worsen everything in the long-run.

Murox, I think you have a more accurate view of this at 16 than most adults do. Several years ago I worked with a guy who had a foreign exchange student from Russia living with him. The things I heard about how Socialism really works would shock anyone if they would just listen. I read about it on my own too and you're right, people have no reason to put forth any effort to do better. If you slack off and do nothing you're paid as much as if you bust your hump all day. Where's the motivation? Eventually everyone gives up and the system fails because the whole country is bankrupt. The Democratic Socialists will send us down the same path and make the U.S. a poor third world country if they have their way.
