No need for you to stir up a panic, the president is doing a fine job of that all by himself!
Even though I disagree with everything he is doing and will try to do he could at least speak a little more positively, even if we suspect it's not true, a little more positive press could only help. All his talk is doing is causing harm.

I hear ya!

The best I can figure is he wants to crash the markets to get his socialist programs instituted. If the dow was 10,000 and a few more people had a job, I doubt any of these ideas he has would make it thru congress. Furthermore, I doubt he'd even been elected.

I work in a tire mold foundry in Ohio, for 22 yrs. this coming April. The shop has approximately 25 employees making "aluminum tread molds " for almost all the major tire companies.
Well, in a nutshell, I'm 51, about third from the top in "seniority" and may be laid off if the economy doesn't turn around soon.
My employer has drastically cut, insurance, 401K contributions (15% of total salary down to now 0%) and so far eliminated quarterly profit sharing ...The profit sharing was compensating us for the difference in pay that other shops were paying there employees.
We went from anything over 8 hours a day was O.T. to anything over 40 hrs. is O.T. If you had any O.T., you are expected to leave early on Friday to keep you total hours 40 or Less!

I used to work an average of 50-55hrs per week sometimes 60hrs.

My wife works in the medical field, within a large medical group, they announced in the months of February and March, 500 layoffs were expected.

Ok it has been almost a year since the last post in this thread. It has been a year since I got laid off and started back to school.
Just wanted to know how everyone else was doing? Still working? Have to change careers? Unemployed now?

Let's hear it.

I just went on social security a few months ago after years of sick leave. My factory closed while I was out so I wouldn't be working there anyway.

old thread, but the economy isnt doing much better in parts of the country... thought i'd come on here and let y'all know that there's lots of jobs up here in dakota country. yeah, it gets a little chilly this time of year, there's not much going on for fun like you have in the cities... but there's lots of hunting, fishing, atv riding and 4 seasons to enjoy. people are nice. oil is flowing freely and we're about to take over as the 2nd most-producing state in the union, with lots of reserves yet to explore. a little kuwait. without al qaeda.

I'm still a self employed contractor.
Last year started slow but finished very good.
This year has been completely dead so far. 3 days of work in January
