Default BEWARE: FAKE PAY-PAL

just a heads up to anyone using pay-pal, be very careful of your accounts. iv gotten advice from some of my computer savey friends saying there are some hackers into pay-pal recently. that and spam emails asking for you to confirm your pay-pal info.

just a heads up, not sure how recent this is

You should always be aware of any email contact that asks you to update information about any of your accounts. It's a common scam to make a realistic looking web page that appears to come from your contact - be it Pay Pal or even your bank. Never reply using their links.

To add to this, when you get a supposed email from PayPal that includes a typed email address put the cursor over the address and see what address appears down the bottom. It it doesn't say paypal.com it isn't paypal.

Default BEWARE: FAKE PAY-PAL

iv had my account broken into. not my paypal account. but my ebay account and email account broken into in 12hrs and then there was a $150 charge on my bank account. not to mention the 3days of on the phone of getting my ebay account back along with trying to tell my email company its MY EMAIL!!! they were such a pain in my rear. then after getting back into my ebay account there was over a $100,000 dollars of Spam wordSpam word Spam wordSpam word Spam wordSpam word Spam wordSpam word  junk on it. that was another few hrs to get back. i say if you didnt buy nothing, have any reason for paypal to contact you, or go directly to www.paypal.com. i wouldnt answer nothing. also iv gotten a few paypal requests for info, and they wont allow you to click on help, or anyother links. i also just fill in for ***** and giggles fake info to F them up. i havent gotten nothing for a long time. ebay has changed things. if you list things on a differnt computer other than your normal computer, they will call the phone number listed, if you dont answer they freez your account. its a pain, but i like the idea.

later

Just a word to the wise. Any time e-bay or pay-pal send you a message it is copied to your both your e-bay messages and your e-mail address also. So any message that you receive that doesn't copy to your e-mail and your account messages is a scam. Always make sure that the message is sent to both places every time before you open either one. This information came right from e-bay security when I was investigating a suspicious e-mail. The e-mail that I questioned looked authentic with all the e-bay logos and everything, but something didn't feel right so I investigated it and found it to be a scam.

I seem to get at least one spoof email a month. First clue, they aren't even using the email address pay-pal has for me.

Exactly! Not everybody is aware of this and the more people that get wind of the possibility of a scam the better.
