Fix quads before I sell them?
#1
I am trying to sell 3 quads, a raptor 80, trail boss 325 and a Z400.
They all need some TLC. They all need brakes, one has a bent brake lever, busted clutch perch (parking brake wont work), missing ignitions on 2, another has o-ring on water pump leaks,. Pretty minor things that dont cost alot to repair. Then the TB is missing the airbox cover but it has been set up with foan etc and runs fine, and the LTZ needs tires.
Should I do all the minor repairs like brakes etc and leave the tires and air box up to the new owner? The tires hold air, they are just pretty worn.
I just want to get maximum dollar for these. The market stinks and everyone wants to low low ball.
Fix em or sell em as is?

i've talked it over with potential buyers about them vs. me on repairs. if they're willing to do it, i cut them a deal, obviously above what i got in it, but if i do the repairs, it'll cost'em more. you'd be surprised what their answer would be especially if you have a price list of the components AND your labor. Brakes, easy to do, the other stuff, that's negotiable.

For top dollar, your gonna need to have them all fixed. Be a good idea to have what the parts would cost if you decide to let them do it. I know I'd be looking all that up before I made an offer if I were buying it. Then figure in labor and take that off what you'd be asking for them fixed.
Good luck on the sales.

Personally I would rather see the small stuff taken care of before I buy. In this case, it sounds like the machines all run, so it would be easier to verify what needs addressing. I would not give anywhere near top dollar for something that needed :"minor" work yet does not run. On my own stuff, I have always fixed anything minor. When I sold my LT250R, it needed a full rebuild, I was upfront with the guy that was asking to buy it, and the price reflected the fact it needed that work.

My suggestion would be fix everything except the tires. Brakes come really cheap online if you look the right place. People want **** that is ready to go when they buy it. I would even fix the airbox cover. As far as the tires...people have tons of different opinions about what tires are best. A lot of people that I know have original tires that sit in the shed and they run the ones they prefer...if you don't replace them they can just start with buying the ones that they prefer. I would guess that just from what I am reading...you could do everything except the tires for less than a couple hundred bucks and probably see at least that back in the end! Just my $.02.
