If you are not looking for all weather protection go to walmart and pick up a set of bicycling gloves. The ones I have, have the fingers cut off, and have a gel on the palm area. Makes riding much more enjoyable. Plus they are cheaper then riding gloves, and look pretty good.
Like I said above, they are definitly not all weather gloves, but they are real nice in the warm months.

The reason I use these is because I also mountain bike. I figured I would try them with my ATV, and they worked great. Just a suggestion.

I have neoprene ice fishing gloves with the tips that flop back. I will be trying a regular set of neoprene gloves, and probably some construction gloves(look like weightlifting gloves).

I stick with good 'ol leather palmed (and padded) MX style gloves. They fit great, feel comfortable and in California weather aren't cold or hot. In California weather (riding temps from 50-ish to 100-ish+) I wont ever give them up. Sinisalo has designed and advertised some gloves specifically for ATV riding, not sure what the difference is until I see a pair. If you want to see them, the ad was in a recent Dirt Wheels or 4 Wheel ATV action, or I'm sure you can get info at www.sinisalo.com.

As far as the biking gloves or similar - I shudder to think of what your hands might look like if you fell off in an otherwise tame crash and skidded on your hands for any distance.

Also, if you ever ride anywhere trees will be brushing you or another ATV in front of you kicking up sand/rocks/etc that'ed hurt. Though I can definatly see how they would be the ultimate in keeping your hands cool during hot times.

Unless it is winter or extremely cold, Any decent MX glove will make your ride %150 more enjoyable, Without gloves I start getting blisters after about 4 hours of hard riding, With gloves I can go for 8 hours a day for a week straight no problemo. Most MX have padded palms, And knuckle protectors, with pretty good venting. I have used the acerbis gloves for the last 2 years and am very impressed with them.

Keep in mind that the gloves I use are mountain biking gloves. Not regular biking gloves. They are just as tough as most atv gloves. I get going just as fast on my bike as I do most times on my ATV. And I have took a few diggers with them.

Now granted, for trees and what not you will not have the same protection. But for the riding I do, they work out great.
