Default CPSC Finds ATV Accidents on the Decline

When it comes to annual ATV industry stats, sometimes we start to cringe even before we read the report. However the CPSC has found some very encouraging trends this year:

Its nice to finally read some good news when it comes to atv safety. Rider training, especially for kids, is a great idea. Many people just jump on an atv with no training whatsoever. While adults will take it easy as they learn the capabilities of both themselves and their machines, kids many times don't understand how dangerous atvs can be. It is a bit sobering knowing that fatalities still occur. I don't think you can ever fully escape that but knowing it is on the decline is a positive step in the right direction.

Less carnage is always good news. Now, if we can get certain elements to behave....

Great news. Polaris had a deal one time where if you took the ATV safety course you got either $50 or $100 off any accessories you bought from a dealer. The course was free too. I think other manufacturers did the same thing. This should be a regular thing.

That was a popular thing some years back, my son bought a 1999 blaster and then a 2001 Honda 400ex and got 75 bucks each time he took the atv safety course from ea mfgr. When I bought my 2000 praire 300 I got 100 from Kawasaki. The course was mostly common sense....something that not a lot of people have anymore. Accidents were on the rise so they discontinued the offer except on special deals around the mid 2000's. They should bring it back!! Unfortunately I have seen way to many young adults and lots of older ones as well that think they know it all when it comes to riding. The other problem is the mind set.."I wouldn't let that happen to me" that attitude has hurt a lot of people. You can have a lot of fun without being stupid!

When my son recently purchased a Scrambler 1000 we got the invite for the safety course. They didn't tell you what you'd get like they used to. If they gave a good gift card or something like that I would have gone.
