Default Where is my start button?????

Hello everyone. I have a 1999 Polaris sport 400. It has a starter and solenoid. But there is no start button on the handle bars. It has the on off switch lights and a yellow override button. The key just in and off no start feature with key?? Thanks polariscrazy1

Push up on the red button that also acts as your killswitch. I had a Scrambler 500 and it had the same start button. The button will go left and right but you can also push up on it and that's how you start your machine. It actually works pretty well.

Default Magnum 500

I want to rehash this thread. I just bought a polaris magnum 500. I can't find the start button. This model does not have the push up option on the red button on left handle bar. It only says, stop..run...stop. not push up to start nor does the red button have that upward action. Ket is only on and off. Help!

Also, it seems like there ia not a lot of indormation online about the magnum but a ton about the sportsman. Are they basically the same quad?

Welcome to the forums.

What year model is it? Could be the green button, depending on the year model.

Thanks Scootergptx,

That is another great question! Maybe i can get some help with that as well. The letter for the year is Y in the VIN, I can't find a tag anywhere else on the quad that has the year/model. What year is Y? I am leaning 2000 as that was what seller told me but he didn't seem too confident.

Here is a pic of the starting switch. No green button. Seems similar to what I have read about on the sportsman where u push up the red button but that is not an option on this switch.

Y would indicate it is a 2000. Looking at the oem parts, it should be the push up type switch. In case yours is bad, not a bad price.
