I have a utility trailer and need to know if anyone has ever built one of the ramp type tail gates for a trailer? I have seen several of them and like the idea of driving my ATV right up onto the trailer. I took the old small gate off and need to either have one built or buy one if any body can help let me know.
Thanks

do you have a welder or access to someone to build the ramp? they are very easy if you can do it yourself and would probably cost $150 to have a welding shop make one.

I built my own trailer. I looked at what was available and they were either too heavy {I pull with a v6 Ranger} or too expensive! We have a good trailer supply store and a good steel dealer in Ocala so off I went. I saved enough $$ building my own trailer that I bought a chop saw to make it with too, I already had a mig and other metal working tools. As far as a tailgate, I used 2" angle to make a frame, reinforced it with same 2" angle, covered it with expanded metal. For hinges, 1/2" rod 1' long, 2 pieces, get tubing that the steel rod slides nicely into, make 4-- 6" pieces, weld one to trailer, one to gate, slide rod in and weld outboard end of rod to tubing. Instant hinges out of scrap steel. Place hinges and gate ribs where atv tires will track and you should be fine. Good Luck!
