I have never really thought about having my quad stolen, but I guess I should chain it up when I go camping. It is always locked in my garage at nights. What about just having a locking tailgate? Are they pretty easy to pick or open?

The Krytonite New York lock has a hex shaped chain (unlike regular round shaped). They 'claim' it can't be cut due to it's shape. They say the cutters can't get a good bite on the chain due to it's shape. Krytonite locked a bike up in NYC, came back to weeks later and everythign was gone except the frame Master Lock also has a version of this.
Krytonite also have a device that you can bolt to your trailer or garage floor and lock your quad to that.

You can also install an alarm (if you have a battery).
