Default Traveling w/ dog on the quad?

I've seen those rear packs w/ room for a dog. I've got a Yellow Lab that's going to be atleast 60-70 lbs, and was wondering what would be the best solution for taking her on longish trips on the trails. She gets a little timid on the back of the Grizz right now...has even jumped off a couple times (into 2 ft. of snow thankfully). Maybe sometype of harness?? I'm sure she'll get better w/ time on the Grizz (she's almost 5 mos. old)..she sits on the bag thing..so how do you take your pets along for a ride?

Buy a plastic pet porter $80 and secure it to the back rack and ride slow!

I don't know padzz. Tough question, if you tie the dog in, you run the risk of him getting crushed during a rollover. Lost a of stuff can go wrong if the dog is tied in in any way. Imagine the thing getting hung up somehow in the wheels. Seems to me that dogs usually have great instincts, you're probably better off trying to form some kind of seat, but allowing the dog the freedom to bail out if he wishes. I think a dog would do much better falling off a quad then getting hung up somehow or worse getting caught under a rolling quad.

How about a small two wheeled trailer with a wire or plastic kennel bolted onto the bed? Would off the dog some protection in case of a tip/roll over , would also open up rack space for carrying cargo. On a side note having poochie in a trailer would stabilize your bike alot more on hill climbs etc as the center of gravity of the bike wont be altered as much bvy a trailer vs an edgy 70lb payload on the rear rack.

Cooper my Golden rides on the Rumble Rack mounted on the back of my 500. He doesnt always stay put - but a pocket full of treats goes a long way in getting him to get back on. He jumps off at the first sign of a tip-over and is usally sitting 10 feet away watching when things get rough. I don't worry about him getting hurt, he's more likely worried about me..

Thanks for the opinions...Because of the terrain in this part of the country, a trailer is out of the question. I think she'll just have to bail off when the going gets rough (ruff). I think the growl of the Grizz scares her more than anything.

When my beagle rides with me she sits in a plastic tote I have strapped onto the back. This might not work for a lab. I did figure out though that the tote needed to be at least up to her neck- any shorter and she might fly out on rough terrrain. - Screw going slow- she likes it when were doing at least 30 mph!!
