tire chains
#1
i have a set of tire chains that i am gonna put on my trailboss. they are big for the tires. they came off of a 26 inch tire i think. anyway, i think i can just overlap them and tighten them down with some twine. but my dad says that cuz they are too big, they could mess up the rear end...could this really happen? or is he just feedin me some B.S.?

You knew how it is the old man feeding you a lot of crap. Well that is what it seems like when you are young.
Well the old guy is giving you some good advise. If you are planing on using the chains cut them down to a proper size. you should let some air out of the tires , mount chains and then reinflate. Chains are ment to give good traction and have to fit right. Forget about twine and hay wire they wont cut it You have to use proper chain hardware. A loose chain or broken side chain can destroy a fender, twice as fast when its frozen. Take your time and cut and try untill it fits right and tight and then it will give traction on ice frozen moss ,grass etc, not to bad in frozen snow either. Dont expect them to perform miracles in soft snow but they will help.
Hope this has been some help.
