Bad Bad 4-wheeler wreck
#1
Guys I have some bad news about one of my 13yr. old friends.Well to start off he has a 1986 Honda 250 Utility quad.He always comes down to my house to fill up his tires and talk a little bit. When we plan to go riding he always wears his helmet.Well when he just comes to see me he never does.Well I was sitting down watching TV when I heard him coming down the road so I went and put my boots on.When I walked out on the porch I saw his quad laying sideways in the middle of a gravel road still running on 4 wheels.I hought he was sitting down looking at the engine.I walked down their and his shirt was pulled up and his belly was bruised and blood was pouring from all over his face.I immediately went and called 911 while my dad went and got some toweles.Within minutes his dad was working up on a hill with all the family and farm workers so he saw it and came quickly. Then the ambulance got their.Immediaely theycalled a chopper to airlift him to Erlanger. While in the ambulance they lost him twice and had to bring him back. Then they left in the helicopter. This is my conclusions on what happen: I found a coke can a 100yds. down the road so I assume he was driving with one hand and swirved up and hit this bank and it body slammed him at 40mph on to gravel road..It turns out he has a punctured lung, and worst of all he is BRAIN DEAD.I don't even know if he made it through the night. All that was wrong with the quad was bent handguards and a broken light where he flipped it.By the way This was in a town near Cookeville TN called Rickman.

Right on man. I really hope he comes out OK. When ever I hear a story like this, it scares the he11 outta me. I always wear a helmet when I'm "riding" but just toolin around the farm, I usually don't. This makes me think twice about riding "bear headed". It only takes one little O-**** to screw up the rest of your life, and 5 seconds to put your helmet on. Of corse, this will probably become the fault of those dangerous atv's. Keep us informed on hows he's doing.

Very, very sorry to hear about your friend. If he is brain dead, he will not live when taken off the respirator. His brain stem was probably irreversibly damaged and that is just a tragic situation. Did you say he was not wearing a helmet? Even with a helmet, you can die from a brain injury, but it is definitely harder for it to happen.
