Default Starter problems

The problem with my quad is the electric start. You press the button It makes a buzzing noise coming form the starter relay I thought maybe the contacts inside were sticking so I changed it out still makes the same noise. I checked all the wires for loose connections none next inline is the C.D.I. . Can I rebuild it or do I have to change it out? also If the starter is locked up will it make that noise? I really dont wont to spend 200 hundred dollars on a new cdi if I dont have to. Any suggestions of what it might be?

Default Starter problems

I had a similar problem with an old Yamaha YFM225S and thought it was connnections. After changing the battery and cleaning every connection I could find I still had the problem.

I finally removed the starter and looked inside....it was filthy and the brushes were worn down to nubs. Took it to the local automotive accessory shop and they rebuilt it for less than $40.00.

Good luck
