I was wondering if anyone could give me info on the KLR250 black box mod for a Mojave. I recently picked up a beat 87 mojave that I'm gonna fix up and modify and wanna know if that black box plugs right in. I know the FST one does but I just wanna find out which is cheaper and easier. It's bad enough you have to deal with that stupid carb set up on the mojave. Any other easy mod idea'swould be appreciated,I'm already gonna do the normal stuff ( pipe, piston, filter)

Powroll (541-923-1290) sells bore kits, cams, strokers etc. for the Mojave. They also have the info you need to install the KLR black box on the Mojave. You can buy it from them for $5, or they give it to you for free if you order a bore kit or something else from them.

Hey Pam $5 seems nice enough, what exactly will this do and how will it effect reliability will it be to taxing on the engine in the long run. I always enjoy reading your posts that are filled with good info! Thanks

PS got any input on my post in Tires etc Re: Bandits-Razr-Shredder

Triston,

Basically, what it does is give you unlimited rev's. It depends on what else is done to the engine as far as what type of performance gain you'll feel when you do this.

If you've got a performance exhaust and some other stuff done to the bike already, and the thing is constantly hitting the rev limiter, the KLR black box will definitely give you more power. On the other hand, if you rarely bounce off the rev limiter now, you won't feel much difference with the KLR box.

As far as reliability goes, no four stroke lives long if it's rpm'd too much. So, if you are always hitting the rev limiter (say, half the time) it's time to change your riding style, your gearing, or your bike! :-)

Do you have a KLR box already, or do you need one? If you haven't bought one yet, they're not cheap from Kawasaki -- so unfortunately, it's not a cheap power increase anymore :-(

I realize what it does but what I want to know is,does the klr blackbox plug right in or do I have to rewire it and if it's simpler or cheaper to get the FST or Poweroll ones?
