Need help on a Carb......
#1
I just put my bike back together and started it for the first time. After starting it, it idles then after sitting there it will rev real high and I have to shut off the bike to stop it. I added a twist throttle and cleaned the carb like 3 times. It never did that before I took the bike apart for painting and bore job. I tried messing with the idle screw, but no change. If anyone can point me in the right direction I thank you.

Butterfly snaps closed (no cable binding)? No air leaks? Float level correct? Float valve sealing? Choke/enrichment plunger open/seating?
Stay tuned, your neighbor, Cal, might have some suggestions. Good luck!

I agree with Tree Farmer, you need to check all the things he listed first...
sounds to me that your throttle flap is not closing shut at idle.
get a flash light and peer down the carb bore to see if the flap is shutting all the way, (you may have to lift the needle bore depending on the style of carb you have.)
if you put a twist throttle on.. that would be the first place i would check.. see if the linkage is adjusted to alow enuf play at idle. you should have some play before the cable starts opening the butterfly flap
