The reason I recommended the pwk's is because of the far superior slide. I much prefer the pwk slide over the round slide of the stockers. I total agree with you ohton abou the velocity and gains. You will not see massive gains, but I would think that there would be atleast some gain. Allot has to do wiht the porting of the engine again. I have seen some engines that just would not run correctly on smaller carbs. I have a friend who has a 460 and the bike was really fast, but he brought it to Laughlin and got wipped bad. Rudy told him to put 41's on it! It made better than a 1/10 difference! But, thats a different motor, and most will not require this. There are a few people who live and die by huge ports and you have to have large carbs for these engines. My theory is that with the extremely large port demesions, you actually loose some velocity in the ports when you use the smaller carbs because they do not flow enough fuel to completely fill the ports. This leaves dead space. By using the larger carbs, you are able to fill the ports up again. This is only a theory of mine, not Cameron! I could be wrong, but this is what I have observed in my experience. I also pretty much deal exclusively with alcohol set ups too. I do know of one motor, a gas motor, built by curtis sparks that responded very well to large 35's. It was only a 350 and the guy had smaller carbs on it. We switched it to the 35 air strykers(pwk) and it really made a huge difference. He went form 5.0 to 4.7's and 4.8's in 300ft. That is very fast for a gas engine. I can tell you thought that the sparks port work is very big. The intake and exhaust are huge on this motor. I think the best thing to do is get what the particular engine builder recommends for his engine combo's. If you arent ported then definetly stay small!
