Banshee are the fastest. Some engine builders are up into the 180 hp range now. The LT 500's need many mods just to be reliable. Then you need to raise compression to make HP and you'll need to pull start it or you'll break your leg trying to kick it over.
500's do need many mods to be reliable.... reliable and fast.
You're right, the banshee based motor can develop major HP... but I doubt they are getting those #'s with 350ccs, right?
It's tough to beat the efficiency of a twin... No question

Pull start or break my leg??? This is how myths become legends! A healthy well tuned motor will NEVER need pull started, and if ya can't kick it over... ya can't ride it! Maybe I have tough leg bones???

350's have gotten those numbers but only with a turbo. Other big bore/stroker combo's can also attain those numbers when all tricked out. Otherwise the 350 and 500 could be relatively close, however the banshee can be a killer with just pipes/porting and would be cheaper to do. As far as the 500's go, 90 Hp as long as you can start it, some may get more, I'm just not as up non them.

the 500 is indeed single, the 350 indeed a double. the 500 is still faster in stock trim. i have seen up to about 585cc for banshees, dont know how big the zilla can go. One disadvantage to the banshee's dual cylinders is that often times you have to buy 2 of everything. Now one part for a shee is cheaper than one for a single cylinder model, but when you buy 2 it becomes much more expensive.

Well, the zilla's are faster, but which do you want, an old unreliable superfast qaud or a newer, fast, reliable Qaud.

I love my yamahas so, matter of opinion i geuss

I'm not a fan of LT's but if someone made a big bore kit and a bigger crank, putting the displacement at 600--750 CCs and ran methonal you would probly be in the 100HP range.

Another thing, a 500 will smoke a banshee off the line and up short distence steep hills because of the tork and bottem end. A banshee power range is more in the top end and a 500's power range is like a light switch. as long as you gear it and have the write paddles for the write application and know how to ride. I believe either Trinity or CT offers a 615 kit. HP was about 50 at the crank stock.

i find it hard to believe you'll ever get 90-100 horse out of any LT500. Yet it is easily attainable on a STOCK cylinder STOCK bore 350 banshee (90-95 horse more realitically).

And if you break your leg kicking anything...you should take up another hobby...like golf or chess

I am aware that you can get a phenomenal amount of H.P. out of the MIGGGHHHHTTTTYYYY Banshee, but 90-95 on a stock bore?? Hmmm, could you elaborate a little?? I have a 370LR by CT, it was told to me that puts out about 60 RWHP. I am running a cool head w/17cc domes, v-force reeds, M-X port, CT MX pipe, pro flo intake w/uni foam filter, stock carbs...... Hmmmmm what (I doubt I ever would, but just for general knowledge) else could I do to my motor to achieve these numbers, without blowing up my prescious engine after 10 minutes?? I will be listening.. Thank you for your time and consideration..
