Please help with reeds and reed spacer
#1
i just got a set of boyesen power reeds for my 2000 blaster and it says to go down 1-3 main jet sizes. should i do this. i have an fmf pipe and silencer and run a 230. do i go down to like a 200?also i got a vito reed spacer and to put it on will i have to cut anything since the reed spacer will space the reed cage out into the carb?

I think you may be mistaken. The reed spacer goes in between the motor and your reeds, effectively moving your whole carb and reed cage back.
As far as jetting, I think they are probably assuming you do not have pipes already. Reeds should not make that much difference. Only one way to find out though, run and check the plug.. Good luck..

I have Boyesen reeds in mine when it was completey stock and ran stock jeting 230 fine.
I now have a Dgpipe/silencer/reeds/vitosreedspacer/k&nfilter/outerwear/drilled airbox lid and a 280 jet. U dont have to cut anything to get the boot on the carb and airbox/ it just takes a bit to get it on.

I had a brand new Blaster with an FMF pipe/silencer/ram valve combo, and I ran the stock jetting on it with absolutely no problems. The bike absolutely screamed compared to stockers. Pipes and reed cages actually make the bike run a little richer, but they let fuel flow a lot faster, which would be the reason for the increased jet sizes. You can never follow the jetting instructions from the manufacturer though, because they only have one set of instructions for everyone. By this I mean, riders in CA get the same instructions as riders in AK. Jetting is determined by the conditions you ride in, more than the mods you make.

i got it from www.moto-man.com it says a mossabarger reed spacer but it's actually a vito. i got the spacer, reeds, and uni filter all at once. i can't tell if the spacer helped but with the filter, reeds, and spacer, i had some better mid power and much quicker accelaration. also i reccomend buying an fmf pipe if you haven't yet.
