Z440 needs help(big bore kit)
#12
You can do it one of 2 ways either you can bore the cylender and have it re-nikisiled or you can have a sleeve intalled. Its your choice for racing I resleeved mine so if I blow it up my down time is not as long. I can have parts quicker and the machining is only a day for that here but to re nikisil the sleeve takes 1-3 weeks depending on who does it I have a race about every week so Id miss up to 3 races doing it that way but its the better way to do it. 440 is the max bore you can do on the cylender before re-sleve. sleving will make it run hotter over heat I doubt it. But anything can overheat in the right condetion.

I want to say thanks to all yall that reply. Bulldogz400 you are right about the Hot Cams. It does sound like a fast ticking noise. As for jetting I went up to 160main jet. finally my friend that installed my big bore kit took my Z down to the shop and did some work to it. We clean out the carb, tank and put new gas in it. Also we added a washer to the needle so that more fuel goes in.(Stage 2 needle on it's way). The last thing we did was change the pilot jet to 25.(stock is 22.5) So I took my Z out this weekend and it ran perfect no issues at all beside the fast ticking noise but that's normal according to my friend and Bulldogz400.
