Has anyone ran a quad on propane?
Engines that run on propane have many disadvantages. One is storage tanks. Guess you could take your gas tank off your quad and bolt on a 5er!!!! Then when you come in for lunch you could have your gas grill already set up!!! Another is cost. To make the same power you are going to have to burn about a 3rd more fuel. Around my area, taxed propane is about the same cost as gasoline. Sometimes it's higher. Then there is range. You are going to loose about a 3rd in range with the same size tank. Then there is the cold weather start problems. They are just a royal pain to get started in cold weather. The mixers freeze up.
There are some advantages to propane also. Like you said, it has high octane. One other advantage that I can think of is engine wear. I've seen high milage propane engines tore down and they look like brand new inside. Propane does not produce the carbon that tears up engines.
