I have a Blaster with the stock exhaust. Has anyone tried to modifying the Spark Arrestor?

I was thinking about cutting off the internal section of the spark arrestor and only leaving the on the 3-bolt flange with the external pipe.

You don't need to cut anything... the center part just pulls out. I'd leave the end cap on the silencer though. You will probably need to rejet afterwards... You should gain a little but if you take the airbox lid off and rejet to that you'll see even more gain.

Great Thread!

I also want to get that "2-stroke" ping goin' on my son's Blaster, but don't want to spend the $$$ on an aftermarket pipe and silencer. He is only ten years old so he doesn't need (nor, do I want him) to have the extra power of an aftermarket pipe. However, we both would like the louder, 2-stroke "ping" an aftermarket pipe makes.

I tried taking the end piece off the stock silencer, but there was no change in the sound. Does anyone know of a way to change the stock silencer/pipe to get that 2-stroke ping similar to an FMF, Pro-Circuit, LRD, etc., pipe?

The "ping" sound comes from the header pipe not the silencer, in my opinion.

I had a friend with a 250R 3-wheeler, it sounded like a utility quad until he replaced the header pipe. Now it sounds like a PO'd bumble bee!
