Every Dirtbike, Banshee, Blaster I've ever ridden had this powerband. And If you fall out of it, the motors have no power. (from my experience)
The only 2 strokes that I know of with flat hp graphs are Outboard Motors. It's mostly because of their exhaust manifolds. Once a pipe and reeds are added, they increase hp tremendously but revert right into the cliche category of having a narrow/high powerband. (Marine Mechanics School 1990)-Mercury 115 Outboard on the dyno.

Just covering all the bases...
Trying to understand how you can make a 2 stroke breathe better with higher flowing exhaust and keep low rpm hp/torque.
crap, I edited a word and lost my whole sentence here. sorry.
rewrite: Port timing won't help unless you add metal to the roof of the port.

What about the powervalved cylinders? Those can add anywhere from 1-2K more useable range, which makes a nice difference. We have a good friend (who has more money in 2 quads than I do in my house) with a 565 powervalved banshee. It is a 3.9 bike at over 84mph in the sand without a wheelie bar. That thing has brutal horsepower and acceleration. There is no torque lag except maybe right off idle. Even a built LT500 (which is Beech's favorite) doesnt seem to have problems at a lower rpm. There comes a point on all motors regardless that when you want all out high rpm power you are going to sacrifice off the bottom. Even your thumpers that are built to turn up the R's will sacrifice bottom end. That's what makes building the high performance motor/accessory combos so hard.
And..........sorry Mike, I guess he was directing that at you

bs. not ever thing can wheelie, i would like to see you try and wheelie, a only king quad, or like lt-500f, they cant trust me, am by wheelie i dont meen getting the tires to pop off the ground, i meen riding them at 30 with the nose in the air, and for as long as you want.
