valves and valve seating
#1
my valves stuck open and the piston struck them, effectively bending them (the shaft of the valve, not the plate)
can i use a knife and/or sandpaper to clean the gunk from the old valve seats and just replace the valves or do i need to replace the whole head?
unlikely i know, but can i just pull the old valves and use a hammer to bend them back straight? i know the timing and seats have to be perfect, but would i be able to bend the valve close enough to oem specs to be able to run decently?
this is on a 1987 trx 200sx (fourtrax)

would it be cheaper to take it to a machine shop and have them do the work or buy a new head? a new head is about $200. i am already replacing the piston.
thanks for the help so far

Just buy new valves and have the machine shop do the seat work. With work, valves, gaskets, and maybe a few beers, you will be into it for under $100 bucks. And with the $100 you saved, you will be able to buy two gallons of gas.
