Just got a uni for my scrambler. Instructions say to oil the foam and then reinstall it over the core. The filter has a foam over steel mesh design of what I believe is the "core". It Then has a foam cylinderical outer filter which slips over the core.
I've oiled both the core foam and the outer filter element. Am I doing this right???

I've never had a good look at the filter you have, but your description of it sounds similar the Pro
Design which I run. It has the bacic commonly used
foam filter plus an outer wrap to use in extremely dusty conditions. If I were to ever use the outer filter I would certainly use a good filter oil on it as well as the inner foam and after spraying both completely, inside & out, I'd squeeze each one to distribute the oil & to rid them of excess oil. Unless you ride in very dusty conditions all day, I'd question the need to use the outer filter. In the case of the Pro Design, it restricts the air flow significantly and requires the leaning out of the main jet on my Warrior, which is counter-productive to the use of an after market filter. Consequently, I have never used the outer foam filter after the first test ride.
