How much hotter does a single cilinder motor run with the cilinder polished then stock. And same with powder coating? Thanks guys, Trying to get some bling bling going on this seasion.

i dont have a temp guage but i polished my 500 cylinder without any noticable overheating problems

 

I polished mine,I looked at it this way,the paint would be like wearing a jacket on a sunny day.

When you polish a metal its causes it to reflect heat BOTH WAYS because it reduces surface area, you see a rough surface has microscopic hills and valleys and that extra area and will help radiate heat quicker. While it may make very little "real world differance" it is better to keep a rough clean surface to get rid of heat.

 

I find that hard to believe.I think the paint would be like a blanket and hold the heat in v.s. polishing the cylinder,plus the reflective surface would help reflect excess heat from sun ray's.I also believe that the smoother polished surface while riding will help out more to disapate heat v.s. the rough microscopic hill's and valley's with a paint blanket covering it,But I'm no expert.

By who?

 

Nova is right on the $$$. Thats why you never see a radiator p.c. oil tank, gas tank, ect. Where all trying to get the heat out of our engines. Not keep it in, polishing it will not make a differents tho. If you do p.c. I would run wetter in the summer time.
