Default 450r cam timing

i'm still learning about this stuff, so bear with me on the ignorance. i have an 04 trx450r. i know that with cars you can advance the cam timing to get more power (although they probably wont pass smog). is it possible to do this with my quad? i don't have the money to get a new cam, and it seems like advancing the cam timing would be a fairly cheap way to get more power. if i can do this, what r the pros and cons? thanx for any and all info.

I know the YFZ guys are doing this with good results, but I have not heard about anything on the TRX. I do know that the HRC cam (combined with an opened up intake and exhaust) makes a huge difference.
