Default gearing changes for more top end speed

I have a 230S and put on a DG Xccelerator pipe and a K&N filter. I also re-jetted the carb and took off the airbox lid. I want to change my sprockets for more top speed. Right now i have a 12 tooth front and a 41 tooth rear. I want to change to a 13 tooth front and a 39 tooth rear, or maybe a 14 tooth front and 41 tooth rear. Any suggestions?

I'd go in very small steps... your top speed will get faster, but remember, your low end power will really suffer if you go too far (Over-gear for your HP output)

My $.02

One tooth on the front is a fairly big step when you consider top speed vs bottom end. It's equal to about 3 teeth on the rear.

Default gearing changes for more top end speed

I had a LT250S a couple years back It was bored over to a 300 or so.... I was running a 13 tooth front and 39 rear... it got me to around 53 mph with 20 inch tires. But like the other guys said, it takes away acceleration bad. granted it wasnt a high performance quad to start, I couldn hardly pull the front end up (with 18's on) So, I would agree with them and drop the rear and see what you think or add one to the front... but running a 13/39 set up with a 230 would make riding trails tough...
