How would he not have a chance in MX...? are u Dumb? Im guessing yes, when he races a blaster MX he only has to race against BLASTERS and thats it they are all going to be blasters and 200cc Aircooled Nothing else. Sso let me ask u again y wouldnt he have a chance with the blaster racing MX?

I will have to disagree with the collegefunded boy on the matter of how you do your upgrades. If you can only afford a little at a time, go for it. Most of us have to do it that way. I have a stock 88 250R with a +4 durablue in the back. It handles even better and doesn't look stupid, only 2" wider per side. But, if his parents are going to go halves with me, then I'll cut grass all summer long also. I mean I am cutting my grass for nothing right know, might as well have them pay me.
I will say that eventually you are going to want a bigger machine. If you are racing, good luck.

I am not trying to brag, I am just trying to make a point. In my second MX race ever, I got second place. I was beaten by a Blaster. There were, 400EX's, Blasters, a DS650, Polaris, 300EX, 250X in my class. Some riders had several races of experience (I know the Blaster guy did) A Blaster won't always come in first, but a good rider can do well on one. Even against bigger machines.

It might come down to personal preferance. I don't like the feel of a quad that the back is wider than the front. You might be better off turning your front wheels inside out, and getting some front shocks. Then when you have the money, get the a-arms, turn your wheels back the right way, and get an axle. The wider the rear axle is, the more it seems to upset the chassis when the back tires hit bumps(to some extent).

definetly shoot for shocks and a arms first because you will enjoy the softer feel of the aftermarket shocks trust me. im much happier now that i had my front end done. but make sure if your planning on gettin +2 a arms to get the shocks that will fit them because you dont want shocks built for stock a arms then switch later down the road you will lose to much money..i bought my shocks and a arms together cause i did a 400 ex front end conversion so they had to build custom shocks that were longer than the 300ex but shorter than the 400ex but it made a huge difference in handling and i hardly feel landing off jumps at the bars anymore its very soft..so thats a suggestion

OK, let me correct myself. You will have a chance in mx if you race against Blasters. However, if you want to race with the BIG boys and catch BIG air you MAY favor the 250R. And if you want to buy one thing at a time (like just a wider axle) and don't mind looking goofy, go for it. But, if you ride your Blaster when its stock while you are saving up for the whole package (a-arms, axle, suspension) you may become a better rider. I wasn't trying to bash Blasters earlier, I think they are great starter quads, but not so great mx quads.
