250ex airbox remove?

I wouldn't take it off. I just cut 4 1" holes and added vents. this way it breathes good and still has protection if I cross mud or water. If you take your air box completely off without rejetting you"ll make it run to lean and burn her up.

If you don't ride in mud and cross deep water you could just remove the lid completely and rejet. When I had my recon, which had the same motor as the 250ex, I ran it with the airbox lid off. The stock snorkel on the 250ex and recon has a hole smaller than a quarter for the air to pass through, so removing the lid makes enough difference that you will feel more power and better throttle response, and it gives it a pretty cool sound.

Removing your airbox will help your top end (more revs= more air...more surface air on the filter=more air allowed into the motor) You could get a PD filter kit and cut the airbox around the intake tube. But don't do that if your going thru much if any water... Just remove the airbox lid get a PD filter kit and that'll do enough.
