Default 2 stroke Reeds question

Doing some mods again on our Blaster. I'm looking at aftermarket reed cages but here's my question: Why not use aftermarket reeds on the stock cage? Do the aftermarket reed cages flow enough more to make it worth while?

This Blaster is ported and has a 30mm carb. Going to a 34. Hate to spend 150 bucks on a reed cage and find that 30 dollars for reed petals on the factory cage is about the same. We ride dunes so wide open throttle riding is predominant.

thanks,
SR

I have had pretty good luck with just going to Boyesen Reeds. I have never bought a new reed block but from what Ive read they do make a difference. I just dont know how much i trust the opinion of a mag who gets a bunch of free stuff to test every month.

Aftermarket reed cages typically have a larger surface area(Which means more air flow). If you were running a stock carb, I would say stick with the stock cage. I put a Boyesen Rad Valve on my ported 250R and it did make a big difference (Better throttle response, etc). I would say check E-Bay for a used Rad Valve or V-Force reed setup.
