Assuming the rear tires are the stock 22"height, the 14/40 combo would give you a slightly slightly taller gearing, meaning a lower ratio. If you're running 20" tires, however, as I am, then of course the shorter gearing would pretty much get you back to stock gearing. Based on the foregoing assumption, I'd go with the 14/40 setup for slightly more on top & slightly less at the other end, which you easily afford unless you are pulling stumps.
Sprocket changes is much like life itself..
mostly give and take

I agree on the 14/40 reccomendation. I tried running a 15/40 with similar basic bolt-on mods, and the warrior didn't have enough poop to pull that high a gearing.

After my 400cc bored/stroked/cammed/ported engine mods, I CAN pull a 15/40 very easily for logging roads, but haven't tried that gearing in the dunes yet, where I may drop back down to the 14/40 combo.

I have a modified '94 Warrior with stock 13/40 gearing. I really like the bottom end and midrange power but would like to gain a bit on the top end. I have a 45 tooth sprocket for the rear. My question is which will give me the most top end while not taking away a noticeable amount from the bottom end? 14/40, 15/40, or 13/45? I would have to buy the 14 or 15 tooth front sprockets but I already own a 45 tooth rear. I mostly ride in trails, with hillclimbs, rocks, hardpack, and the occasional fire road. Sometimes I ride with a Banshee so a little gain in top end would be welcome. Still wouldn't trade my Warrior for anything. Much better trail quad than a Banshee. Thanks in advance.

The 14/40 would be your best bet. The 15/40 would be like dropping 5 or 6 sprocket sizes in the back, and the 13/45 is going to kill your top end, not help it. Take your rear sprocket number, and divide by the front number. This will give a good idea of the ratio you'd be running, and you can kind of compare it to gearing in a car. The lower the number, the higher the higher the top end, and vice-versa.
