Default Exhaust for Raptor 700 & DVX 400

We have these two quads (The Raptor is a '07. the DVX is an '04), and We're looking to upgrade the exhaust (and all the required jetting/powercommander).

Anyways, I was looking at Yoshimira, but on their site, they say the packing needs to be replaced after every 5-6 horus of riding. OK, so scratch that. . So we're looking at a few others, White Bros and Hmf mainly. Either way, will either of these require packing replacement that often, or at all? I've also heard references to Yoshimira pipes burning people's legs (I assume to poor header routing, sticking out too far to the outside).

Anyways, If anyone has some advice or insight as to the 5-6 hour repacking thing, then I would appreciate it. Thanks, Greg.

i have a white brother pro alumuim for my raptor 700 and have been pleased with it. has not burned my leg yet if i wear boots. but i whould recomend getting duals for you r raptor 700. i know i wish i had.and if you are set of getting a single i whould recomend a hmf or a white brothers. but out of every exhaust i whould get the barker duals. they put out the most out of every pipe made for the 700. as far as a efi unit i whould get the power commander 3. not sure what exhaust is the dvx400.

Thanks, the only problem with Barker Duals is that I see no Power Commander mapping for them. I like the loks of them, and have readelsewhere that they're worth 3-4 HP over an HMF pipe.

We'll probably go with the WB pipe for the DVX, I was mainly questioning wether it also has the re-packing issue that he Yoshi pipes do.

Also, does that WB pipe run inside the frame? Thanks, Greg

Barker makes exhaust for both of them. Just call him. Both are inframe. If you are looking for the PC mapping there are plenty of available through rocket factory. For a stock raptor the dobeck controller is the least expensive and easier to tune ( no computer needed). As far as the DVX a dynojet kit will work just fine just follow the instructions.
Barker also has a very good slip on for the raptor that makes power on par with the full system singles out there for less money.

almost all aftermarket pipes will burn your leg because they dont come with a heat shield. My Big Gun EVO X burns the hell out of my leg, the pipe is half black from my pants.

its not bad unless i have baggy pants on. Wheelies is when i usually burn it the most, i guess i squeeze my legs against the seat and my pant touches the exhaust.

I think all the pipes have similar bends. Almost all pipes will require re-packing at 20 hours. I've put probably 50 hours on mine and havnt repacked it yet....It blew the spark arrester right out of the exhaust LOL, awell.

Thanks.

I can fab up a heat shield, , my concern was that some run OUTSIDE the frame rails, that's what I was trying to avoid.

What happens when a pipe is not re-packed? Yoshimura says it ruins the pipe, but I'm not sure how that could be.

Does the packing actually get burned out of it, or just soaked with fuel ,water and oil? Thanks, Greg.

The packing is basically a fiberglass pillow stuffed inside the canister. Barkers comes with heat shieds all but the open drag pipes.

i not a fan of the dobeck controller. if you buy the power commander it will be the only controller you will ever need. btw i find it very easy to program.
