I own a 1993 banshee, and I am having the crankshaft rebuilt. Are rebuilt cranks reliable? Most bad cranks that I have seen or heard about have always been the left rod thats bad. Do any of you guys know why?

Thanks
Michael P

Banshee's can be hard on crank shaft oil seals. When the left seal goes bad it allows the engine to suck air pass the seal ,leaning out the left cylinder.Make sure to have your crank trued, balanced and pins welded.

I was told that I didn't need it welded if my bike was still stock. I have toomey T5 pipes, 280 main jetts, and a boost bottle. I know it's not stock but pretty close. Should I go ahead and have it welded? Thanks for the help.

You probably won't need the crank welded unless you give the engine a port job and raising the compression. I have LRD pipes and silencers, and will be getting a pro design cool head with 19cc domes, but I won't be getting the crank welded unless I decide to get it ported but I doubt I'll go that far.

I would weld the crank it is a insurance policy since the crank is allready out and being rebuilt. It is far cheaper then replacing the cases because the crank separated
