I am assuming that you are talking about on your raptor. The answer in short is this. The effects of porting are done through the cam Porting a 2 stroke is the same as changing the lobes of a cam. What you mean by valve job, I am not sure. However, The angle of the valve seat does affect performance, and can be designed for top end or low end performance. Polishing your intake will cause smoother flow, Which is not always desired. Not sure if you would want to do it to the raptor. The same basics apply as what applies to a car. If you look through some hot rod mags you will undoubtably start coming up with your own ideas as to what you can do with your motor.

I actually ride a banshee, Never owned a 4 stroke bike or ATV, So I cannot give you a idea of what the power gains would be. They seem to be claiming a little high for what is being done, Although a good cam will definatly boost your HP a noticable amount. I am a little confused as to why they would call it porting though, Unless I am missing something that they put in an ATV head and not a automobile engine. If they actually know what they are talking about they should have said a cam, not porting, as just about anyone can tell you that porting is nothing more than changing your intake and exhaust timeing, just like changing your cam.

On your Raptor the improvement percentages sound a bit high, but it would depend on how bad of shape the stock ports are.
If they're welding in more material to change port contours, they can make significant airflow gains, but it's expensive and the heads tend to be fragile.
On a two stroke, porting can change port timing which is equivalent to changing camshaft timing, in addition to enlarging passages for increased airflow.
The gains on a two stroke can be massive if done correctly.
