Previous best in the 1/4mile on ice 1 month ago went 72.2mph in 5th gear
because it was so fat it wouldnt pull 6th into powerband.

I had no jets, actually I had just pulled it out of storage after about
10yrs! Put air in the tires mixed up some fuel and headed to the local
frozen pond where we run snomobiles.

Here's a list of the Mods which were all done in 87/88!

Its an 87 TRX 250R with a .010" over Ported & Polished Cylinder, Re-Shaped
Head, 170psi comp, FMF Pipe and Answer Silencer, 36mm Round Keihn PE Carb,
170main jet, Boyseen Reeds, Cage and Spacer, 15/39 Sprockets, Answer Nerfs,
stock Tires & Rims studded.

Today we went out and tested on dirt a marked 1/4mile. It was ideal
conditions with sunny skies and 22Celcius or 80F temps.

We changed a few parts in the past month......

FTZ in-frame Rev-pipe, shorty silencer, 14/36 gears and a brand new honda
89 axle carrier (the original bit the biscuit last time out). 20x10x10 & 21x7x10 Fast Trekkers all the way around.
First pass
resulted in 76.0mph! Right off the bat it picked up nearly 4mph.

After checking the plug we decided it needed to be leaned out using a
165jet, 160, 155 before we finally picked up mph and a plug color change!
Boy was it FAT! It went 79.5mph!Another 3.5mph in just jetting.

Pulled the gas tank and check the burn on the piston. Way safe still. Jet it
down to a 150, then a 148 (smallest I had), re checked again and again and
was still safe using the 148jet but getting close...

It ripped off a best of 81.0mph!! and increased a total of 5mph due to
jetting and 9mph overall in the 1/4mile!

In a 1500ft blast it went 73.3mph , at 1800ft it went 86.0mph!!!

Had a blast today with the best weather of the year up here in Toronto
Canada, seen about 25 various ATV's and 20 bikes riding around and didnt
melt her down, even in the long runs! A great day out !

Next mods will be minor... Going to try that double base-gasket & CR head
gasket trick. Possibly some V-force reeds too.
Can't wait to get a 400+ big-bore PV motor later this year!

Thanks Honda for building a 250R!

Sled28,

How are the 20inch Titan Fast Trekker rear tires? I have the front ones and they are fine. I always wonder how the rear ones do, since I never saw anyone running them around here. I can get them easily from a car tire store that stocks these tires and I am considering them... so how are they?

H300F,

Just ran them for the first time this weekend other than hard-pack last week( where they wore some knowbs down cause there soft)...

But On sand, dirt, some mud (wet spots in trails), they worked very good. I know in the sand with my 18x11x8 un-grooved turf tamers or 18.5x9.5x10 Hoosiers would spin uselessly up the hills I was riding in, where just changing to the Trekkers, they would grab the sand better and have way more acceleration. Traction!

I personally am pleased with the full Fast Trekker set all the way around. (My next purchase of a 4 tire combo will be ITP Mx Holeshots in 20x11x10 & 21x7x10 sizes).

I am very happy with these tires and I think you would be happy with a set also!

ugly, thanks man. Over the years you wouldnt believe the things my family, friends used to say.. ' Sell that thing' Im like, No way, I'm keeping it! Well worth it now let me tell you!

Anyways, no I dont burn my leg at all. Its kinda down low and the stinger is really tucked inside the frame quite a bit. The only thing is I rub it with my foot everytime I kick it over...

Sled,

I think I will try them. I ride all types of stuff, but no sand. But I do hillclimbs, coal hillclimbs (colm) here in PA which are very steep, long, soft, and some are like sand and some are like golf ball sized coal. I guese they will work well, since it is like sand, and the trekkers work well in the sand, atleast better than holeshots which I have now or the Turf Tamers which I used to have.
