my friend went out and bought a 1987 Tecate-4. Can a KX500
motor go right in those without to much modifications?? What
shops know their sh#@ about building those motors?? What is
the best pipe for those quads?? Is the motor the exact same
as a KX250 dirt bike of the same year?? If not will a KX250
dirt bike cylinder bolt on to a Tecate-4 bottom end??

I'm not sure about your other questions, but i do know that LRD has a full exhaust system for the Tecates, its just not one of thier adjustable pipes.

don't put the 500 engine in. you'll snap yoru frame because the engines not counterbalanced. the counterbalancer in my LT broke off. it shook a TON! and it also snapped my frame in 2 places. i couldn't imagine the vibration from an engine thats twice as big but i know your frame wouldn't last long!

I have an '88 T-4. The top end from an '87-'89 kx 250 will bolt on. If you use a kx 250 head gasket, check the compression, you don't want to be higher than 185lbs without using race gas. I don't know about putting a kx 500 motor in the frame. I have an FMF pipe, they work ok, but not great. If I were to do it over again, I would get the LRD pipe.
