Ok guys I want to take my kawi 650 from Indiana 800ft above sea level to the rockies 11000ft above see level. I really dont want to do any thing major for 3 weeks riding will a k&n filter do the job?

Sorry, but are going to have to do something. The air is pretty thin at that altitude. Trust me, I ride from 5000 to 11000 feet and it is a jetting pain in the butt. The filter will help a little but you are still going to have to drop a few jet sizes. Maybe there are some Colorado riders that can tell what jet to use. Jetting is (generally) very easy and should only take 30 minutes with a single carb depending on how your kawi is built. I went from 600 ft to 6200 feet when I moved to Wyoming and my machines ran horrible, especially the 2 strpkes. The Warrior made no power & wouldn't rev up well from being blubbering rich. CO is a nice place, enjoy it by making your machine run right.

Unless you are actually going to be riding right on top of the rockies, you will be riding roughly between 5000ft and 9000ft here. I can tell you from experience that rejetting is a must, there is no way around it. Myself coming from the deserts of California to the base of Pikes Peak, the change in altitude was a major difference.
I'm not sure if I can give an exact number of size jets you will need to come down. I would suggest you get with a local shop and get a better educated guess. Be forwarned, the thinner air can affect you as well as your machine.
