Does anybody have any suggestions on how to make my clutch pull easier for a 86 trx250r. I am guessing the clutch is stock. Would a rebuild of the clutch help that much? On a relative budget so try to keep that in mind. Thanks for the input.!!

First try lubing your clutch cable... unhook both ends and see if you can slide the cable in the guide fairly easily. If not start shooting lube (cable lube,wd-40, etc. ) down between the cable and the guide (outer black plastic covering).Work the cable back and forth while the lube runs down the tube. You can get a cable luber to help you at a dealer or from a catalog.Try lubing your lever pivot also.Another option is a new cable. And, you could buy an easy pull clutch perch/lever from the same places. I would start w/these first.

you can do somthing easy, somthing a little harder or both.easy would be to buy an easy pull clutch and the one i use that i am very happy with is from magic racing. the little harder thing you can do is rebuild your clutch and put CR500 springs in it. both make a cray big difference but one of those would most likely do the trick. it would also help alot to either do what GR8T250R said to do with the lubing or just get a new cable. not sure what kind of a budget your on but i hope i gave you some idea.

i have heard wd40 is bad for cables because its high water content(it makes stuff rust when air cant get to it). the mechanic at the honda dealer said that. he said regular motor oil and work it into the cable.

First thing you do is lube the cable up well. Then you flatten the acuating arm on the cases out flat, so it has more leverage to pull with...depending on how much you flatten it, you might have to dremel a bit off the corner of your cylinder (no big deal). Then where the cable is attatched to the case, make sure the cable is not rubbing the sides of the metal housing at all. If it is, take the cable out, put a screwdriver through the plate, and bend it so it does not hit the cable housing at all when its pulled. You'll be pleasantly surprised I believe at the difference

New cable and E-Z pull lever and perch. It will feel like new guaranteed...40-50 bucks.

Well I have a pep ez pull clutch perch and lever and a new honda cable that I lube with an ez luber. It is not as easy as my 300ex.It is close though. Also the 89 clutch update kit makes the pull easier. So will cr500r springs.

I would get an 89 update kit.And new HONDA cable, and some type of ez pull perch and lever. This will be nice.I used a motion pro cable. It broke after about 5 months of doing my sitting than moving.
