Can anyone explain why and how you get a banshee crank welded when going for more horse power..

 

When your engine starts making more hp, you need to weld the crank to be sure it doesnt come apart on you. It doesnt add hp, its a reliabilty move. They weld the journal where the pin is conected to make sure it will not come apart(sling a rod). Usually you dont have to do this until you have added enough compression to run race gas, but it is a good idea to do it anyway.
