I know a Banshee never shifts good anyways but it is worse now I already have a shift star mod but what I have now is under a full throttle drag race scenario I can not get my banshee to shift to third gear worth a sh-t sometimes it evens pops into a neutral position what areas should I start with first.

I would say that the previous owner, or you, do what is called a speed shift, in that you shift under full throttle without the clutch and without letting the RPM's come down on the motor. That is fine, but it is murder on a transmission. I just did a tranny in a blaster with the same problem. (I work in a bike shop on the side). What happens is the dog ears on the 3/4 combination gear get rounded off, hence it won't stay in gear. So then what people do is use the shift lever to "hold it in gear" which completey ruins the forks, which adds metal to the oil, which just makes for more problems. Anyways, I would recommend tearing the motor down, taking out the tranny and take the gears off of the shafts, what you will find is what I have described, the ears will be rounded and that is the result of tranny abuse by the operator. This is not cheap, since tranny gears run about $800 for a complete set. I would take a close look at all of the gears or take it to somebody who knows what they are doing. It is not cheap, but your problme will only get worse, eventually the problem will "spread", fix it know when the damage is at a minimum!! later
