Default fuel pump

Has anyone ever tried to put a fuel pump on a quad? I'm tired of going over deep whoops and having the engine sputter because its not getting any gas due to the fact that the fuel is airborn most of the time.

Yamaha Tri-z's had fuel pumps because the tank was below the seat. I am thinking some new bike has a fuel pump also but I can't remember which one.

Boyesen make some trick fuel bowls for dirtbikes and some atv's that reduce slosh.

A SMALL QUICK FIX ON THAT WOULD BE TO RAISE THE FLOAT HEIGHT SLIGHTLY....,BUT NOT TOO MUCH WHERE IT IS RUNNING OUT OF THE OVERFLOW.....AND ALSO IF YOU HAVE THE PLASTIC BAFFLE ON THE BOTTOM OF THE MAIN JET DRILL THE SMALLER HOLES OUT SLIGHTLY LARGER......THIS WILL GIVE YOU A LITTLE BIT MORE OF A RESEVOIR IN THE CAVITY...........

fuel pumps are easy to run. If your running a 2 stoke you'll have to tank into your cylinder for a pulse line, either in the intake track or into the side of the transfer. Is pretty simple

Here is the bowl I was talking about. GO to your local dealer and see if they offer one for the 400ex. They might be for 2-strokes only, but it is worth checking into. I haven't ran one but I have a dirtbiking friend that loves his.

Question: He is having a problem with the fuel going upward in his bowl and he is sucking the air below the fuel. Wouldn't a fuel pump just replace this air and cause a higher fuel level when he comes out of the whoops? The higher fuel level could have its own set of problems.

Yes, but also keep in mind a fuel pump is used on motors that are running the bowls dry. By running a pump when the bowls for the most part are still full can cause excess fuel consumption by the motor, which causes bogging during all RPM's

DaBeechMan, I must not have explained clearly what I was trying to say. That is exactly the point I was trying to make.

OK i re-read it. Im sorry, a fuel pump SHOULD* solve your problem, otherwise run your floats higher or run a larger bowl
