We have a '04 Polaris Sportsman 600 and it is overheating and reading "hot" on the display. Our cooling fan won't come on. I am new to Polaris bikes and am not sure what to try...we don't have a manual and any information or ideas would GREATLY be appreciated!

Welcome to the forum! I'm almost deaf, but not blind yet,can read you perfectly!
Most of the time its # 4010161 thermal sensor in the radiator that shorts out and not allowing the fan to cycle on and overheats. If the fan is NOT coming on when it over heats, you can try 12 volts direct to the fan motor to see if its ok. If fan works I would suspect the radiator sensor. Also trapped air in the system can cause problems(Always if adding coolant leave the cap off until fan cycles on,this purges any trapped air) Also radiator caps can be faulty and allow coolant to spew out. PLUS battery must be fully charged to allow 12 volts for everything to work right! Hope this is enough for you to trouble shoot! OPT
