1999 polaris sport 400 carb flooding out

Ok air cleaner is clean, reeds look good, but the reed boot has a slight crack in it, ( evidence of fuel leaking there), hopefully that is the issue!. ordering a new one.Thanks again for your help!

hello, just installed the new intake boot on my 1999 sport 400, started right up, ran good for about a minute( thought I had it ), then the same issue as before bogging, smoking a lot, like to much fuel again, but there is no gas coming out of the carb overflow this time. I did discover another problem, I checked the radiator last time i worked on this thing, it was low, filled it, checked it again today, its about half full, not leaking anywhere, I only ran this bike in the garage,for troubleshooting, its smoking bad, grayish smoke, Im assuming the coolant is entering the engine, any ideas to check or any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks MZJR

Bleed the cooling system before it could possibly over heat! There is a 10 mm bleed bolt at back of head close to the temperature sensor that has to be opened to purge any trapped air in the system. Open it while engine is off and close it after 30-45 seconds or when you see nothing but coolant and no air bubbles. Underneath the carb is the counter balancer dipstick. Check to see if it is milky colored which would indicate water pump seals are leaking coolant into the counter balancer cavity. If it's not milky colored then you could possibly be loosing coolant through a bad radiator cap into the reservoir bottle and just could be dribbling out or you could have a blown head gasket if air was in the cooling system and if it ever got hot on you or previous owner.. Does the fan cycle on and off also?? The grayish smoke could still be fuel related or could be coolant,but burning coolant would be more of a whitish color.If you have access to a radiator pressure tester you could be able to narrow down any problems. Also the radiator cap is rated at 13psi and if bad you can get one at most auto stores. Keep us updated. OPT
