Default 2004 Sportsman MV7, RPM Issue

The RPM gauge reads 0 at idle, as you hit the throttle then RPM's will show. Once you release the throttle, RPM's will got back to 0

Check the main harness going into the speedo for any bare wires and the connector itself for any wires not fully pushed into the pins. If all traces out ok the problem could be in the speedo head itself. OPT

Re-verified fault this morning, now RPM's don't work at all, even when throttle is used. Checked wiring harness, cleaned and inspected all pins, all good. Put a new speedo in and still no RPM's

Receives it's rpm signal electronically. You either still have a short somewhere or the fault could be in the stator wiring. Check the yellow and yellow/red wires from the stator that also go to the regulator/rectifier. I believe on the older mv7 it's rpm signal came from the yellow/red which branched into the speedo harness. The newer model efi 700s also receive the rpm signal from the stator yellow/red wire. OPT

Well, that explains it, already determined the Stator was bad, already on order, when it comes in will see if that fixes it, thanks OPT
