Belt Drive on a 500 Sportsman
#2
although i've never had a sportsman quad like yours, my other polaris quads had case drains to verify they were clear of water/mud. really, i've never worried about it. i just checked them once in a while when riding or right after i got out of some muddy/watery situations. i've never really had an issue. sorry i couldn't help you there, but that's been my experiences.

The Polaris factory seals the belt housing water tight. There are only two tubes going to the belt housing, one for air intake and the other for air exhaust.
Both are located high up by the gas tank.
If water is getting into your belt housing before your in gas tank deep water then you have a leak that needs fixing.
If every thing is as it should be, you should be able to park all day in seat height water without a problem.
Any deeper you will need a snorkle kit or a boat.
