Default 2004 Polaris EFI with multiple problems...HELP!

i recently bought a 2004.5 700efi. it was literally LIKE NEW. it ran great for 10 months. here are the issues and what we've done thus far

ride 12/5/12:
fuel pump would constantly run (whether engine was on or not). only way to fix was to disconnect battery cable. Also, headlights would intermittently work.
action:
purchased new ecu. didn't stop fuel pump problem. removed ecu (it's available for a discount, if anyone needs it!). replaced relay. pump stopped constantly running and lights working fine now. thought problem was fixed.

ride 1/1/13:
started day running fine. after a few hours of riding, started to lose power. i could throttle through to a certain rpm and it ran, but not well.
stopped and let machine cool...ran fine for a short time then started losing power again.
action:
replaced fuel filter, spark plug

ride 1/15/13
same as above...ran fine until for a few hours, then lost power.

each time we go out, this happens.
we seem to feel it runs ok at about 3000rpm but won't give me any power at other speeds. also, the idle seems low (compared to that of the 800). it's idling at 900rpm..

i know there have been many discussions about this, but there are so many varied things done and we don't often get to hear what the results are.

i am at my wits end and don't know what to do now. husband wants to replace fuel pump, but i think that there's stuff to do before that, i just don't know what.
he has a polaris 800 efi and has no trouble...sooooooooooo, we may be seeing trouble brewing in our almost perfect marriage here...please help me fix my atv so we can BOTH have fun on our polaris machines!!!

thanks for any help....

sue

With all the problems you're having instead of throwing more parts at it,pay the 1 hr labor charge to have it hooked up to Polaris Digital Wrench software to isolate the problems. There's only so much "shade tree" mechanics can do now days on efi machines. This can save you a lot of frustration. Sometimes dealers are a necessary "evil" and can actually save you money in the long run, just try to find a good one. .
