Default trouble with warn winch

I have a 2006 sportsman 500efi i transfered a warn winch from a 2005 sportsman 500 and all went well untill i tried to operate it. all i get is a big click when i try to spool out or in. all connections are tight and was a simple swap. did i miss something somewhere? any ideas or a place to start? the click is coming from the box where all the big factory wires and switch wires meet.thanks

Just check the basics.Double check the connections.Make sure the freewheel is off. Plus simple things like checking the battery terminals also.If it was working when you pulled it from one machine, should work now on the other. Plus sometimes a good "tap" on the commutator might help..

well i rechecked all connections and tapped on the commulator but i still just get a click. going for a ride this weekend maybe the bouncing around might help. thought about sticking jumper cables right to the winch to rule that out if the ride dont do it. will let you know.

Check that you're getting voltage to either of the winch cables when you hit the switch. This can at least help you narrow down the problem as to the winch itself or a problem before it gets to the winch.
