Default Oil injection test?

I had my carb out today and pulled the line that goes from the oil pump to the cylinder. I pulled the pull start a few times. Should oil have come out of the pump when I pulled? When I bought it I was told the oil injection didn't work and to premix. I premix at 40:1 and it doesn't seem to smoke excessively so I do believe the oil injection is not working.

Just keep the line off, block off the injector with a rubber plug, crank the engine and hold the pump lever all the way up while at an idle. Oil should trickle slowly out of the line if the pump has been bled and is working correctly.

Look at the rear of the 250 engine while you open and close the throttle! You'll see the cable operate a lever that goes to the oil pump. This lever is what you lift all the way at an idle to check for oil pumping.

I did the test today and the oil does seem to come out when doing the test as you suggested. I just wish I knew the reason the previous owner said to pre-mix. I emptied the oil tank and will continue to pre-mix for now. Here is a video of the rate of flow. It is easiest to see if you make it full screen. Does this seem like the correct flow rate?

Oil rate looks fine. The reason as I've said before when people have a piston seizure they always blame the oil pump not they're own lack of maintenance in addressing piston wear before it causes major problems. 2 strokes by they're very nature are high maintenance in regards to piston changes every several years.Less moving parts, less weight, higher hp to weight ratio, but it comes at a price!! 4 stroke pistons, rods, crank bearings, etc on the other hand are continuously bathed in oil and generally last much longer..
