New to me Predator won't start
#11
Question: Despite all these problems I am having, should the bike be able to be push started? Would you advise trying it? How do turn the crank over by hand (stupid question probably, but I don't know.)
Thanks again!

Just pull the spark plug if you have to. This is just to see if the engine isn't seized by physically grabbing the flywheel and turning it. If it turns around your problem either lies in the starter clutch or battery.

Took the flywheel off. The bolts on the starter clutch were sheared off. Do you have any recommendations on a new starter clutch? Aftermarket, OEM?
Also, any tips or things I should look out for during this repair?
thank you

I just bought an 03 predator 500 and the battery was bad so I bought a battery and it fired right up just cold blooded after cleaning it today and fixing it up and changing the oil it now won’t start. Any ideas? It turns about 3 times but won’t start up completely. I’m thinking it might be the stator?

Start at the easy stuff first. Check for spark, check that you're getting fuel to the carb.If you're getting fuel then it could be trash in the carb if you haven't already gone through it. If it tries to turn over but stops, that's another symptom of a starter clutch slipping.Since the machine is new to you get the cheap manual and read though it. It can help narrow down problem areas with it's trouble shooting guides and checks.2003 Polaris Predator 500 Service Manual PDF Download
